Wipro to roll out salary hike to employees from January 1

Indian IT services major, Wipro Technologies has decided to roll out salary hikes for eligible employees from January 1st. The company will offer salary hikes to employees up to the B3 band, which comprise 80% of its workforce.

The eligible Wipro employees at the mid-level will receive salary increases from June 1 next year. The company said that the salary hike will be in the range of 6-8% for offshore employees and 3-4% for onsite staff.

The Bengaluru-based IT services major has a workforce of 1.8 lakh employees. The company follows an annual increment cycle effective June.

However, due to the uncertainty of business during Covid-19 pandemic, Wipro had to defer the increment cycle.

While speaking to TOI, Wipro spokesperson said, "Our employees have shown remarkable resolve and resilience in ensuring seamless business continuity and maintaining high standards of service in the challenging times.

Wipro has announced 100% variable pay linked to business metrics for all employees in both the third quarter (October to December) and the fourth quarter (January to March) of the financial year 2020-21."

The 100% variable pay will be paid for the July-September quarter. Wipro has already rolled out performance bonuses in bands up to B3 on December 1. Nearly 7,000 employees in the band up to B3 have received promotions.

This year, the promotions were among the highest in the last three years.
