Microsoft CEO takes a dig at Amazon during Azure Purview event

The software giant, Microsoft has unveiled a host of data management products. At the launch event, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella took an apparent dig at Amazon.

Nadella was speaking during the 'Shape your future with Azure Data and Analytics' virtual conference.

He said, "No customer wants to be dependent on a provider that sells them technology on one end, and competes with them on the other. It’s never been more important to get this equation right."

Microsoft launched new cloud technologies as it competes against AWS, Google and others. The tech firm has launched Azure Purview - a unified data governance service that helps organisations achieve a complete understanding of their data.

Julia White, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft said, "Azure Purview helps discover all data across your organisation, track lineage of data, and create a business glossary wherever it is stored: on-premises, across clouds, in SaaS applications, and in Microsoft Power BI.”

Microsoft introduced Azure Synapse Analytics last year at the Ignite event. Organisations that use Azure SQL Data Warehouse don't have to move to Azure Synapse Analytics. The Azure Purview preview is published with an internal name of Project Babylon.

With Synapse analytics, companies can run the full gamut of analytics project and put data to work more quickly, productively and securely.

Microsoft wants to empower organisations to invent with purpose by developing new capabilities to achieve both analytical and predictive power.
